About Megan Strachan
Lawyer. Psychotherapist. The kind of family lawyer you actually want in your corner.
Megan Strachan founded Strachan Family Law because she saw a gap, clients going through separation who were getting technically competent legal advice but not feeling heard, supported, or prioritized.
She wanted to build something different.
After years of experience in larger firms, Megan launched a boutique practice with a deliberate focus: fewer files, better outcomes, clients who feel genuinely cared for. She doesn't carry a heavy caseload. She moves files forward proactively rather than waiting for things to escalate. And she answers her messages.
She wanted to build something different.
A background that sets her apart
Megan is a licensed family lawyer, but she's also a Registered Psychotherapist. That dual background shapes everything about how she practices.
Family law is emotional territory. Decisions made in the heat of a difficult moment can have lasting consequences. Megan helps clients stay grounded in what actually matters to them, make decisions from a clear-headed place, and move through the process with as little unnecessary conflict as possible.
It's not therapy. It's just a more human way to practice law.
More Wisdom, Less Conflict.
What to expect
Prompt communication.
You won't wait a week for a reply. Megan prioritizes responsive, clear communication so you're never left wondering where things stand.
Honest advice.
Megan will tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear. That's what actually helps.
Modern practice.
A truly modern process. Megan's practice is 100% virtual and paperless. You'll never need to visit an office or drop off a document. Everything moves electronically — securely, efficiently, and on your schedule.
Real momentum.
Files don't sit. Megan manages her caseload intentionally so your matter gets consistent attention.
Emotional steadiness.
Family law involves big feelings. Megan is completely unfazed by emotion, and brings calm, focused energy to even the most charged situations.
Trained in law. Trained in people.
Most family lawyers bring one set of qualifications to the table. Megan brings two.

Outside the office
When she isn't helping clients through separations or supporting therapy clients, Megan is usually outside. She trains for and runs ultramarathons, loves trail running and camping, and is happiest in the mountains. After a long day in the wilderness, you'll find her with a cup of black tea, milk and honey, a good book, and something to snack on.
